Home Depot Ball Update

Home Depot Ball Update
The completed Home Depot Ball. The plastic piece on the bottom of the ball is a rain gutter adapter section that is also available at Home Depot. I trimmed the flange off the edge of the dome with an air saw and cleaned it up with a right angle grinder. You can use a hacksaw, file and sandpaper. I then trimmed the corners of the opening in the ball to accept the rain gutter section. Ultimately, I trimmed the rain cutter section so it didn’t protrude into the ball very much. I made sure it was a tight fit and then glued the two pieces together with Crazy Glue. You can see the Velcro inside the rain gutter section. On the wide section I used the side that sticks to the Velcro on my flash. On the short sides I used the same Velcro that is on the flash for a friction fit that doesn’t grab. This fits well on the SB-26 and Canon 580EX.

For those who really care… Canon 30D, 17-55mm lens, Canon 580EX at 1/2 power camera left bounced off ceiling with a bounce card to fill subject.
